CUMULUS Top 40 WWWQ (Q100)/ATLANTA's "THE BERT SHOW" turned $2,000 into $125,000 and met OPRAH WINFREY’s challenge.
On her television show last MONDAY, OPRAH gave out $1,000 to each of the 300 in her studio audience. The catch? They could not spend the money on themselves. They had to pass the money on as a charitable contribution in any way they seemed fit. And they had to do it quickly.
Attending OPRAH that day were two BERT SHOW listeners from ATLANTA. With their money, the sisters decided to pay it forward to MY SISTERS HOUSE, a center for women and children.
Upon their arrival back to ATLANTA the sisters emailed THE BERT SHOW and asked for help. The show contacted supermarket chain KROGER, and an idea was born. For 48 hours, cashiers at each of the 134 ATLANTA-area KROGER stores would ask each shopper to round up to the next dollar with the difference donated to MY SISTERS HOUSE.
