TUNED IN BROADCASTING Triple A WRLT (LIGHTNING 100)/NASHVILLE is partnering with PROJECT 615 to celebrate all things NASHVILLE with their seventh annual 615 DAY JUNE 15th.
LIGHTNING 100 will be hosting its biggest 615 Day yet with a day-long block party in EAST NASHVILLE featuring food trucks, local vendors, and live music. The station will take its ONErpm to the event and broadcast live from 11a to 9p, spinning NASHVILLE-based artists exclusively all day.
There will also be live performances by local artists including MOON TAXI, THE WILD FEATHERS, WILL HOGE, OMEGA SWAN, PAUL MCDONALD and others.
“Overall, one of our initiatives as a local station is to help NASHVILLE artists. The Local Lightning Spotlight started in 2005 and was one of the first official programming features we implemented to highlight local music. It started with spinning a few local artists a day and that began the excitement both from our staff and our listeners,” said GARY KRAEN, VP/Programming and Operations.
“Over the last 12 years, LIGHTNING 100 has continued to expand this focus, with the station now sourcing 30 percent of their programming from bands and artists who live right here in MIDDLE TENNESSEE. Also included in the station’s repertoire of NASHVILLE-centric music initiatives are “the615” weekly local show on air every MONDAY at 6:15p and Lightning 100’s THUNDERGROUND concert series, a monthly, all-local artist showcase at the BASEMENT EAST.
In 2011, LIGHTNING 100’s original concept of 615 Day was to feature programming dedicated to local music. Now, the city has adopted the “holiday” as its own.
