Poynter/NABJ Leadership Academy For Diversity In Digital Media Applications Now Being Accepted

THE POYNTER INSTITUTE and the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BLACK JOURNALISTS will hold their 2017 Leadership Academy for Diversity in Digital Media DECEMBER 3-8 at POYNTER's ST. PETERSBURG headquarters. Applications are now being accepted for the 25 tuition-free slots available for the program, which offers a leadership training program for journalists of color working in digital media; the applications are due by AUGUST 18th. The TEGNA Foundation is the naming sponsor of the program, with THE NEW YORK TIMES providing additional funding.
This year's faculty will be led by USA TODAY NETWORK VP of News Operations MIZELL STEWART and UNIVERSITY RADIO FOUNDATION News-Talk WFAE/CHARLOTTE Chief Content Officer JU-DON MARSHALL ROBERTS, joined by NABJ President and NBC OWNED TELEVISION STATIONS Social Media Editor SARAH GLOVER, NBC NEWS SVP of Specials RASHIDA JONES, USA TODAY NETWORK VP, Digital Video Content and Strategy RUSS TORRES and Senior Director, UX and Design TIM WONG, AVIATION QUEEN LLC Editor-in-Chief BENÉT WILSON, and TEXAS TRIBUNE Chief Audience Officer AMANDA ZAMORA.
"We are delighted to extend our partnership with THE POYNTER INSTITUTE For a second year so we can expand the pool of minority leaders in the digital journalism space," said GLOVER. "With the exponential growth of technologies and digital strategies, we value the training that will put these leaders at the front edge of the future of journalism."
"This program is designed to prepare the best young and mid-career journalists of today to lead tomorrow's news organizations," added POYNTER VP KELLY MCBRIDE. "NABJ is a great partner, helping us identify the best curriculum to make the participants successful."
