Longtime iHEARTMEDIA Talk WTKS (REAL RADIO 104.1)/ORLANDO afternoon "PHILIPS PHILE" host JIM PHILIPS told listeners this afternoon (6/20) that he is retiring from radio in JANUARY.
The ORLANDO SENTINEL reports that PHILIPS, who has been in the CENTRAL FLORIDA market since 1972 at the old WKIS-A (a predecessor of WWNZ-A, the simulcast of which ultimately became WTKS) and has hosted afternoons at the station since before the "REAL RADIO" format was installed, said, “I’m retiring. I’m not retiring from life, I’m just retiring from this business." He added that he discussed his decision with management TODAY (6/20) and "I don’t want a roast, and I don’t want a going-away party."
