NASHVILLE MAYOR MEGAN BARRY TODAY (6/27) proclaimed FRIDAY, OCTOBER 20th "HEAL THE MUSIC DAY" in MUSIC CITY, an initiative designed to help NASHVILLE musicians and music companies support their own. Musicians can donate five percent of that day’s show earnings to MUSIC HEALTH ALLIANCE, to support the nonprofit, which has helped more than 5,600 music industry professionals solve medical coverage needs, and saved $16.5 million in healthcare resources since its founding four years ago.
“So many of our artists, entertainers, songwriters, musicians, and crew are self-employed and go without access to high-quality health insurance," said BARRY. "HEAL THE MUSIC DAY" is about giving back and showing we care about those who put the music in MUSIC CITY.” RODNEY CROWELL orchestrated TODAY's announcement, which included a commitment from KEITH URBAN, CHRIS and MORGANE STAPLETON, DIERKS BENTLEY, MIRANDA LAMBERT, VINCE GILL, PETER FRAMPTON, GARY ALLAN, and many others.
"'Heal The Music Day'" is an opportunity to educate the NASHVILLE music community on how not-for-profit MUSIC HEALTH ALLIANCE helps our work force and their families find much needed help in times of health crisis and getting the care they need,” said CROWELL. “The folks at MHA are a Godsend to this community, and ‘HEAL THE MUSIC DAY'’ creates an endowment that allows them to continue their critical work.” See more information here.
