SiriusXM Canada To Offer Specials For Canada Day/Canada 150

SIRIUSXM CANADA will offer special programming this weekend for the CANADA 150 and CANADA DAY celebrations.  The nation is marking its 150th birthday, and the satellite service's domestic channels, also available to U.S. subscribers, will air several specials to mark the occasion.

Among the specials:

• Alternative THE VERGE will air a "Greatest Canadian Songs of All Time" show all day on SATURDAY (7/1), featuring the top 10 chosen after months of voting by the Canadian public and industry experts.  Then, on SUNDAY, the channel will air the "HISTORIC HOMECOMING" concert live from NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE with performances from CITY AND COLOUR, BLUE RODEO, THE STRUMBELLAS, STARS, and DEAR ROUGE.
• News-Talk CANADA TALKS will air a three-hour special including material from "NATIONAL POST RADIO," "CANADA NOW, "WARD AND AL," "THE ARLENE BYNON SHOW," and "#POLITICS WITH ARLENE BYNON" on SATURDAY 9a-noon (ET), repeated 3-6p (ET).  In addition, BYNON will host a live show, "CREATION OF OUR NATION," from CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI noon-3p on SATURDAY, joined by former Prime Ministers KIM CAMPBELL and PAUL MARTIN, comedian/actor DAVE THOMAS, chef MICHAEL SMITH, P.E.I. Premier WADE MACLAUCHLAN, hockey analyst GORD STELLICK, and others.  And the channel will air two play-by-play sports events, the MLS match between TORONTO FC and FC DALLAS at 7p SATURDAY and a CFL game with WINNIPEG vs. SASKATCHEWAN at 9p the same day.
• Comedy CANADA LAUGHS will host a "takeover" by comedian K. TREVOR WILSON all day SATURDAY, broken up by a special edition of BEN MINER, JOE THISTEL, and PAUL PADUCH's "PB&J" at noon and 8p (ET).
