TTP MEDIA has signed CFQR-A/MONTREAL on the air with automated music programming, beating its CRTC-mandated JUNE 30th deadline by hours.
MONTREAL media blogger STEVE FAGUY has been following the saga of the new station, which is taking the frequency occupied by pioneering MONTREAL station CFCF-A (later CIQC-A) and the call letters formerly held for over 40 years by what is now crosstown Rhythmic AC CKBE (92.5 THE BEAT) . FAGUY reports that sister CFNV-A has also made it to the air with automated programming; when the stations are fully operational, CFQR will offer English-language Talk programming and CFNV, taking the 940 AM slot once occupied by the CBC's CBM-A, will be in French.
