RealNetworks Q3 Benefits From Microsoft Settlement

REALNETWORKS' third-quarter net income soared from $11.2 million to $42.4 million (6 to 24 cents/share) thanks in part to proceeds from the settlement of its antitrust suit against MICROSOFT. Excluding the settlement and other considerations, the company's profit was $8.7 million (5 cents/share). Revenue rose 14% to $93.7 million, including a 16% increase in music revenue. For the fourth quarter REAL expects revenue of between $117 million-$123 million and net earnings of 18 cents-21 cents/share.
