Condolences to family and friends of longtime LOS ANGELES radio and TV newsman BILL SMITH, who died SUNDAY (7/9) after a battle with Alzheimer's disease at 74.
SMITH moved from newspapers to radio in the 1960s at KGIL-A/SAN FERNANDO, CA, producing DICK WHITTINGTON's morning show and serving as Promotions Director and News Director. He later worked at KABC-A and then became a TV news reporter/anchor at KTTV, KNXT-TV (now KCBS-TV), and KTLA, where he worked for 13 years before being laid off in 2008.
