It's another slow day for filings with the FCC, with some translators staying silent but not much else.
In what filings there were this morning, SUSAN BUSHELL, widow of license holder RICHARD BUSHELL, has applied for extensions of the Silent STAs for K276BR/SANTA CRUZ, CA; K265CY/SAN JOSE; K257BE/LOS GATOS, CA; and K242AT/SALINAS, CA after losing the translator's programming source -- EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION -- and failing to find buyers for the stations. The FCC also sent notices of unlicensed operation to three more alleged pirate FM operators, ORLANDO MORILLO (94.9 FM in THE BRONX), HOWARD A. BRYAN (89.7 FM in PATERSON, NJ), and YVON GRAND-CHAMP (106.3 FM in MATTAPAN, MA). Later on THURSDAY, the Commission also released notices of unlicensed operation sent to TALYA ANDREA LANTZ (101.3 FM in BOSTON) and DAVINA MENDEZ (87.7 FM in BOSTON).
In CANADA, the CBC won approval from the CRTC to increase power at CBON-FM-29/MARATHON, ON, a rebroadcasting transmitter for ICI RADIO-CANADA PREMIÈRE affiliate CBON/SUDBURY, ON, from 2,023 to 3,862 watts ERP. The CBC also got approval for a power decrease at CBCJ/TIMMINS, ON, a rebroadcaster of CBC RADIO ONE affiliate CBCS/SUDBURY, from 41,600 to 11,000 watts, allowing it to be combined on a single antenna with CBON-FM-29. And the CBC's existing AM rebroadcasting transmitter for CBON at BLIND RIVER, ON was approved for a move to FM at 98.5 with 136 watts.
