ENTERCOM Sports KCSP-A (610 SPORTS RADIO)/KANSAS CITY is dropping UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS football and men's basketball play-by-play after 18 years carrying the JAYHAWKS, citing conflicts with KANSAS CITY ROYALS baseball play-by-play for the move.
In a statement posted to the radio station's website, 610 SPORTS RADIO said, "After an 18 year partnership, 610 SPORTS RADIO will no longer be the play-by-play home for KU Athletics. KU’s desire to be the primary focus of the radio station would have compromised our commitment to the extensive partnership we have with MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL in KANSAS CITY. That wasn’t something we were willing to accommodate.
"While we will no longer be the play-by-play home, this opportunity provides more flexibility to provide even better KU coverage in certain ways. We thank KU Athletics for a phenomenal run and wish them success going forward."
