KBAI/Bellingham, WA Flips From Liberal Talk To Classic Hits

New Format

SAGA COMMUNICATIONS has flipped News-Talk KBAI-A/BELLINGHAM, WA and its recently-added FM translator simulcast K255DC to Classic Hits as "K-BAY 98.9 FM 930 AM."

The station had been programming a liberal talk format with a local show, "THE JOE SHOW" with JOE TEEHAN, surrounded by syndicated shows including STEPHANIE MILLER, THOM HARTMANN, LESLIE MARSHALL, and "THE DEVIL'S ADVOCATE," along with DAVE RAMSEY, "RED EYE RADIO," and "FIRST LIGHT"; TEEHAN thanked listeners in a final message on the talk format's now-defunct website, saying, "We’ve seen some setbacks but also many gains, and it’s been an honor to help inform and entertain you and to offer a platform for our many and diverse local progressive voices.  But things change and our company has decided to take the station in a different direction."

Brand Manager DOUG LANGE added, "(T)hanks to all of our Progressive Talk listeners in BELLINGHAM and throughout WHATCOM COUNTY. Through all the ups and downs of the political climate and the changing face of the progressive talk format, it has been a pleasure to run KBAI for the past 10 years."
