FRANK WYCHECK is out -- but just for one season -- and longtime NFL coach DAVE MCGINNIS is in as color analyst alongside play-by-play voice MIKE KEITH for TENNESSEE TITANS football this season. WYCHECK, the former TITANS tight end who continues as co-host of "THE WAKE-UP ZONE" on TITANS flagship CUMULUS Sports WGFX (104.5 THE ZONE)/NASHVILLE, has been serving as color commentator for TITANS radio broadcasts since 2005; earlier this year, he voiced concern that he may be experiencing cognitive issues related to concussions during his playing days, and he missed one game last season because of it.
A statement from the TITANS read, "After multiple discussions with FRANK, it was agreed that he will take this season off from the radio broadcasts and return next season. With the season quickly approaching, we have reached an agreement with DAVE MCGINNIS to fill-in for FRANK this season. Coach MAC has a deep knowledge and passion for the game, along with eight years as a coach with the TITANS. He is very excited about taking on this role and we think he will fill in admirably."
MCGINNIS was head coach of the ARIZONA CARDINALS in 2000-03, then served as linebackers coach/assistant head coach under JEFF FISHER for the TITANS in 2004-11; he most recently coached under FISHER with the LOS ANGELES RAMS.
