Extensive cleanup continues in TULSA, OK after an EF2 tornado touched down in the early hours of AUGUST 6th.
SCRIPPS RADIO Top 40 KHTT (K-HITS 106.9) morning team of CHUBBS & TARA ventured out on MONDAY (8/7) to provide much-needed hot sandwiches and water to first responders and clean-up crews in the area hardest hit by the storm (watch their footage here). Reports say over 120 businesses were damaged and at least 10 other businesses were completely condemned. CHERA KIMIKO, from sister TV station KJRH, included the special delivery in her storm coverage report.
“This happened just a mile from our radio station and along most of our drives into work. The impact of something hitting so close to home really spurred CHUBBS and TARA into action,” said KHTT APD TABATHA GRAMMER.
“The response was overwhelming, as most of the crew members had been working 19 hours straight in an area where they do not have easy access to food, because all the businesses are closed due to damage,” said SCRIPPS VP/GM DAVID ABEL adding, “The K-HITS team deserves a standing ovation for going above and beyond in helping out our community. Awesome job! Local radio at its best.”
