Audio Tributes To Glen Campbell Continue To Roll In

It was a sad day for millions of Country and Pop fans worldwide to learn of the passing of 81 year old music legend GLEN CAMPBELL yesterday (NET NEWS 8/8) following a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Radio, and radio program suppliers, have stepped up to honor CAMPBELL's 60-year career in music with excellent special tributes.

Additionally, UNITED STATIONS RADIO NETWORKS will pay tribute on its weekly program “RICK JACKSON'S COUNTRY CLASSICS," set to air the weekend of SATURDAY, AUGUST 26th and SUNDAY, AUGUST 27th. The three-hour episode will be titled "REMEMBERING GLEN CAMPBELL," comprised of CAMPBELL’s music, greatest hits, and his amazing story.
COMPASS MEDIA NETWORKS syndicated "ORIGINAL COUNTRY GOLD" hosted by ROWDY YATES is offering a half-hour CAMPBELL tribute special for immediate airply on a non-market exclusive basis. The special and accompanying cue sheet are available here.
On a local level, ALPHA Country KDES/PALM SPRINGS, CA PD TOMMY CARRERA had a CAMPBELL tribute on the air shortly after the icon's passing. The audio includes a powerful intro from station image voice JOHN WILLYARD; listen here.
One of CAMPBELL's last radio interviews, a sit-down with the syndicated "JOHNJAY AND RICH SHOW," featured the guys discussing CAMPBELL living next to JOHNJAY's father-in-law, RICH's obsession with all things "Rhinestone Cowboy," and an impromptu performance by CAMPBELL with RICH playing guitar. Additionally, television broadcasters are stepping up to honor CAMPBELL, who was a multi-media star, having hosted "The GLEN CAMPBELL Goodtime Hour" for several years during the late 1960s and early 1970s. The HLN network will air an encore presentation of the documentary film, "GLEN CAMPBELL: I'll Be Me" TONIGHT (8/9) at 9p (ET). The film details CAMPBELL's battle with Alzheimer's from the point of diagnosis through his final tour. CMT-TV will pay tribute with "CMT Remembers GLEN CAMPBELL" running all WEEKEND (ARTIST INFO 8/9).
