The LOS ANGELES TIMES and WONDERY are partnering for the TRONC-owned newspaper's first podcast, a six-episode true-crime series called "DIRTY JOHN."
The show, to be released this FALL, is reported and written by CHRISTOPHER GOFFARD, a member of the TIMES reporting team that won the PULITZER PRIZE in 2011 for its reporting on the BELL, CA corruption scandal. The podcast will follow the story of a successful interior designer's discovery that her beau, met through online dating, was not who he seemed.
TIMES Editor-in-Chief DAVAN MAHARAJ said, "Our collaboration with WONDERY is the latest example of our commitment to spreading our journalism in new and creative ways. Podcast devotees can now join our print and digital readers and enjoy a riveting narrative experience with 'DIRTY JOHN.' It's just the beginning of our new frontiers in storytelling."
"Storytelling remains the most powerful art form we have," added WONDERY CEO HERNAN LOPEZ. "This multiplatform project with the L.A. TIMES will introduce the suspenseful, immersive storytelling that's found a vast audience among their readers to podcast listeners who love this style of immersive, serialized audio."
