FCC Hits Atlanta Translator, Two Alleged Pirate Station Landlords With Violation Notices

YOUNGERS COLORADO BROADCASTING has been served with a Notice of Violation by the FCC due to emissions from the transmitter of W266BW/ATLANTA that strayed onto 123.05 MHz, in the aviation band, causing harmful interference. The violation was observed on JULY 6th by an Enforcement Bureau agent; the licensee is being asked to explain the violation and what it is doing to remedy the situation within 20 days of the notice (issued WEDNESDAY (8/9). YOUNGERS is selling W266BW to DAVIS BROADCASTING for $400,000 plus an LMA before closing; The translator, which has been silent and recently filed for an STA to resume at reduced power, will rebroadcast WPBC-A/DECATUR-ATLANTA, GA, which DAVIS recently bought from HANMI BROADCASTING, INC. for $150,000.
The Commission also issued Notices of Unlicensed Operation to the owners of the properties from which two alleged pirate stations were operating. The notices went to FRANCES V. CHAPMAN (88.7 FM, LAKE WORTH, FL) and AMERICAN COLLEGE EXPRESS (88.7 FM, HOLLYWOOD, FL).
