Speech/audio is quickly becoming the way consumers are navigating just about everything. According to a new study from EDISON RESEARCH and PANDORA, usage on these devices (AMAZON ECHO, APPLE SIRI, GOOGLE HOME) grew by a whopping 282% year-over-year for the music service.
Highlights of the study include:
• While it took many years for there to be multiple TVs in the home, one out of three people already have two or more voice-enabled devices in different rooms in their home.
• 69% of us tune into audio content on our voice-enabled smart speakers, while 58% of us listen to music on these speakers for about four hours and 34 minutes per week.
• 46% of us are checking the weather and 40% of us are asking general questions on where to find a store or how to cook something.
• 29% of us plan to make purchases (top items = tech, household goods and beauty products)
• 40% of these device owners are between the ages of 35-54 with younger GEN Z and MILLENIALS, 18-34 coming in second (35%)
• 77% of us are listening to music on these devices with friends and family
