Sony/ATV Music Publishing Signs Joey Purp To Worldwide Deal

SONY/ATV MUSIC PUBLISHING has signed acclaimed CHICAGO rapper JOEY PURP to a worldwide deal.
A founding member of his home city’s hip-hop collective SAVEMONEY alongside the likes of CHANCE THE RAPPER and VIC MENSA, PURP delivered one of the most critically praised releases of 2016 with his second mixtape "iiiDrops."

The CHICAGO native's eclectic taste in music ranging from rappers such as JAY-Z, KANYE WEST, ANDRE 3000 and WU-TANG CLAN to his all-time favorite group, THE VELVET UNDERGROUND.
The first mixtape under his own name, "The Purple Tape," appeared in 2012 when he was 18, while he co-founded the CHICAGO hip hop collective SAVEMONEY, whose members also include VIC MENSA and CHANCE THE RAPPER.
He formed the duo LEATHER CORDUROYS with SAVEMONEY colleague KAMI DE CHUKWU for their first project, "Season," incorporating rock, trap and neo-soul. He performed on HANNIBAL BURESS' COMEDY CENTRAL show "Why?"
His second mixtape,"iiiDrops," released in MAY 2016, included contributions from CHANCE THE RAPPER and VIC MENSA.
PURP has made a series of festival appearances this summer, including at the PITCHFORK MUSIC FESTIVAL in his home town and one at LOLLAPALOOZA, also in CHICAGO, with local indie-rock band WHITNEY.
A NORTH AMERICAN headline tour will begin in VANCOUVER, CANADA, on SEPTEMBER 20th into NOVEMBER.
