SLIGHTLY STOOPID have raised over $20,000 for charity through a successful artwork auction. The hand-painted stills, which were turned into a music video for the band’s latest single “One Bright Day”, caught the attention of fans worldwide as well as HARD ROCK INTERNATIONAL. Proceeds from the auction will benefit THE GLOBAL BRIGHTLIGHT FOUNDATION (GBL), a nonprofit that provides affordable solar energy solutions to rural and impoverished communities globally.
Commented FOUNDATION CEO BEN BUNKER, "We are so thankful to SLIGHTLY STOOPID, DANIELLE ZIRK, and the donors who participated in the “One Bright Day” fundraiser. Together we will bring clean, sustainable solar energy to at least two rural communities without electricity in GUATEMALA through our LIGHT A VILLAGE program. We look forward to sharing the impact of these projects in the coming months."
The music video for “One Bright Day” features animated paintings by HAWAII-based artist and aspiring pro-surfer DANIELLE ZIRK. Six original signed and numbered hand-painted canvasses featured in the video were auctioned off.
HARD ROCK INTERNATIONAL Director Of Memorabilia JERRY FRAIZE stated, “Adding these original pieces of art to our collection will allow us to represent the undeniable connection that exists between art and music. Our guests are sure to enjoy these original paintings, and the message they convey for years to come."
SLIGHTLY STOOPID also regularly partners with many cancer-fighting organizations such as GRIND FOR LIFE, a nonprofit started by competitive skateboarder MIKE ROGERS , and CANDLELIGHTERS, which focuses on battling pediatric cancer. Earlier this year, the band raised over $30,000 for pediatric cancer research by collaborating with pro-skater DANNY WAY to release an exclusive album along with a limited edition run of 1000 skateboards.
