NAB Radio Board Adopts HD Resolution

At its meetings yesterday and today (11/8-9) in WASHINGTON, DC, the NAB RADIO BOARD passed the following HD Radio resolution that was proposed by board member and WKHM-A & F & WIMB/JACKSON, MI Pres./GM BRUCE GOLDSEN:
WHEREAS, over the air radio stations are currently broadcasting in digital HD Radio; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Communications Commission has had a Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking pending for over 31 months; and
WHEREAS, radio broadcasters daily serve the needs of their communities, including the provision of lifeline services during life threatening emergencies;
THEREFORE, be it resolved, the Radio Board of Directors of the National Association of Broadcasters hereby urges the Commission to act expeditiously to finalize service rules for digital AM and FM radio.
The NAB RADIO BOARD also announced that EMMIS Pres./Radio RICK CUMMINGS will serve as Chairman of the NAB RADIO SHOW Steering Committee for the 2007 convention in CHARLOTTE. He held the same post for this year's convention in DALLAS.
