LOS ANGELES film and TV composers and musicians, including "AMERICAN Idol" performer RICKEY MINOR and "This Is Us" composer SIDDHARTHA KHOSLA, will perform a free concert at CITY HALL’s SOUTH LAWN on SATURDAY (AUGUST 19th) to raise awareness for AB 1300, the MUSIC SCORING TAX CREDIT BILL aimed at bringing back more of the entertainment industry’s scoring and composing work to CALIFORNIA.
In recent years, the state has suffered an exodus of film and television music jobs. AB 1300, recently introduced by ASSEMBLY MAJORITY LEADER IAN CALDERON, would bring the success of the CALIFORNIA FILM & TV TAX CREDIT PROGRAM to musicians and the scores that are an integral part of every motion picture and TV project, ensuring that CALIFORNIA tax dollars invest in jobs that would otherwise be lost.
The event starts 10:30a (PT) and runs until 12:30p (PT) at the corner of 1st and MAIN STREETS in downtown L.A.
Guest speakers to include CALDERON, ASSEMBLY members JIM COOPER and SEBASTIAN RIDLEY-THOMAS, LOS ANGELES FEDERATION OF LABOR Executive Secretary-Treasurer RUSTY HICKS, ALLIANCE FOR WOMEN FILM COMPOSERS President LOLITA RITMANIS and AFM LOCAL 47 President JOHN ACOSTA.
