ABKCO MUSIC, founded by the late ALLEN KLEIN, has entered into an agreement for the exclusive worldwide publishing administration of all compositions written by the members of DISHWALLA (JIM WOOD, SCOT ALEXANDER, JUSTIN FOX, GEORGE PENDERGAST III, RODNEY BROWNING CRAVENS). The deal encompasses the band’s entire recorded output, including their 2017 comeback full-length, "Juniper Road," as well as their debut album "Pet Your Friends" (featuring the 1996 hit single “Counting Blue Cars”), together with songs on their albums "And You Think You Know What Life’s About," "Opaline," "DISHWALLA" and additional soundtrack work.
Formed in SANTA BARBARA, CA, in 1993, DISHWALLA’s name is derived from a HINDI term for a person who provides satellite TV to a neighborhood. The band earned a BILLBOARD AWARD for Best Rock Song, as well as back-to-back ASCAP Awards for Rock Track Of The Year. The release of "Juniper Road" in JULY is somewhat of a landmark – it is their first album since reuniting in 2008 with new lead singer JUSTIN FOX.
Produced by SYLVIA MASSY and recorded at ERIC BURDON's house in JOSHUA TREE, CA, "Juniper Road" was a unique experience for DISHWALLA. “We would record with all the windows and doors open until the wee hours of the morning, amps and drums at full volume, billowing into the abyss of the black desert air. No neighbors,” recalls FOX. “It was fantastic and way better than a traditional studio experience.”
DISHWALLA’s songs can be heard in numerous film and television productions, including "Empire Records," "The Avengers" and "American Pie," On the TV side, they have had songs in "Smallville," "The OC," "NCIS" as well as in "Charmed," where the band appeared as musical guests in one episode. DISHWALLA has been referenced several times in "How I Met Your Mother."
Commented the band's keyboardist JIM WOOD, “We’re really excited to find ourselves alongside so many legends at ABKCO. They were an obvious choice for us, as they’ve been instrumental in furthering the careers of so many artists who have influenced us.”
Added ABKCO COO ALISA COLEMAN, “We are very happy to be working with DISHWALLA. We look forward to helping them capitalize on their past, present and future successes in innovative ways that take into account the ever-changing industry landscape. They are tremendously talented, and we are proud to welcome them to the ABKCO family.”
