HURRICANE HARVEY might be long gone, but radio's efforts to help those victimized by the storm continues.
The ATLANTA INDIE ARTIST COALITION, in conjunction with ATL promoters and media specialists, will hold a "Houston Flood Relief Pop-Up Concert" TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5th, 2017 at JOSEPHINE LOUNGE in ATLANTA. The event was organized to create awareness and collect donations for HOUSTON's flood victims.
The "HOUSTON Flood Relief Pop-Up Concert" will be hosted by comedian BENNY PITTS alongside FORT KNOX and will feature approximately 45-50 acts. Recording artists of all genres will perform their latest single or have their music played in exchange for donating needed items such as canned goods, toiletries, baby wipes, diapers, bottled water, gently used or new clothing items, laundry detergent, luggage, blankets and baby food.
On LABOR DAY, the iHEARTRADIO/PORTLAND, OR cluster did a one-day food drive for the victims of flood-ravaged HOUSTON. Their listeners donated 23,000 pounds of non-perishable food and supplies which necessitated the station getting a bigger truck. Check it out below:
SARKES TARZIAN Classic Hits WLDE/FORT WAYNE, IN will be at CHICK-FIL-A GLENBROOK SQUARE on WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6th, where 100% of that day’s sales will go to help those impacted by HURRICANE HARVEY.
CBS RADIO/BALTIMORE stations, in cooperation with THE SALVATION ARMY OF CENTRAL MARYLAND, will host a fundraising Radiothon this FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 8th, to assist the victims of HURRICANE HARVEY. The live broadcasts will take place from 6a-6p on TODAY’S 101.9 (WLIF), 105.7 THE FAN (WJZ-FM) and MIX 106.5 (WWMX).
“Our hearts go out to the victims of HURRICANE HARVEY, many of whom have lost their belongings and their homes. In times such as these, after horrific events, communities come together to help in whatever ways they can," CBS RADIO/BALTIMORE VP/Programming DAVE LABROZZI said. "We are glad to have this opportunity to bring Baltimoreans together to show their support.”
As of this moment in time, HURRICANE IRMA is expected to hit the U.S. and potentially cause widespread damage. Should that occur, funds raised during FRIDAY’s broadcast will also be used toward that relief effort.
