ALPHA MEDIA stations across the nation have continued their efforts to support HURRICANE HARVEY relief efforts through the AMERICAN RED CROSS in the form of additional donation drives, radiothons, and fundraisers. Cases-in-point:
- Country KGNC/AMARILLO and Classic Hits KXGL (THE EAGLE) partnered with STREET VOLKSWAGEN to get pet food and supplies to families and animal shelters in DALLAS and HOUSTON. EAGLE morning show hosts, JAMEY & MORGAN, and KGNC hosts JASON & NANCY did remotes asking listeners to donate food and cash. Almost two tons of supplies and $20,000 in cash were raised.
- The BILOXI-GULFPORT cluster partnered with the City of GULFPORT to collect supplies filling over four 18-wheelers. “As a recipient of donations 12 years ago after HURRICANE KATRINA, the people on the GULF COAST know better than anyone what is needed in their time of loss. The people of the GULF COAST are the most giving people I have ever been around,” ALPHA MEDIA/BILOXI-GULFPORT VP/Market Manager RICKY MITCHELL said.
- The PALM SPRINGS, CA cluster partnered with a local TV station to host a fundraiser, raising $115,000 to be donated to the AMERICAN RED CROSS. Live radio remotes by Country KDES, Classic Hits KDGL, and Hot AC KPSI were held throughout the day in the parking lot to drive traffic to the location. ALPHA MEDIA/PALM SPRINGS SVP/Market Manager TRICIA BASTIDA said, “Whenever disaster strikes, regardless of the location, communities across these great U.S. always come together to help our fellow Americans, and the radio listeners here in the COACHELLA VALLEY are no different.”
As HURRICANE IRMA approaches, ALPHA MEDIA will continue to collect donations for the AMERICAN RED CROSS here.
