Reps. BILL FLORES (R-TX) and GENE GREEN (D-TX) have introduced the Radio Consumer Protection Act of 2017, a bill to establish a Radio Consumer Protection Fund from which radio stations will be paid back for costs incurred from the television broadcast spectrum repack. The funds would be available until the end of 2022.
NAB EVP of Communications DENNIS WHARTON said, "The legislation introduced by Reps. FLORES and GREEN would help fulfill the promise to hold local broadcasters harmless during the incentive auction. We applaud their efforts to protect and reimburse the 678 radio stations – and their countless listeners – that would be impacted by the auction repack. We strongly support this bill and will work with Congress to resolve this issue.”
