Midroll Does Deal With NFL, Unveils Fall Podcast Debuts

MIDROLL MEDIA's presentation at the INTERACTIVE ADVERTISING BUREAU's Upfront in NEW YORK TODAY (9/7) included the company's announcement of a deal to distribute and sell ads for the NFL's podcasts, the official announcement of VOX MEDIA's entry into the daily news update race, and the acquisition of distribution rights to a popular podcast.
Coming to MIDROLL's ad sales network will be the NFL's slate of existing podcasts, including “AROUND THE NFL,” “MOVE THE STICKS,” “THE DAVE DAMESHEK FOOTBALL PROGRAM,” and “FANTASY LIVE,” plus new show "GAME THEORY AND MONEY" with CYNTHIA FREUND and MATT "MONEY" SMITH. The league's teams will also have the opportunity to partner with MIDROLL.
The VOX daily podcast is being developed with MIDROLL and its STITCHER content development team; the new show is scheduled to launch in early 2018 with MIDROLL as exclusive advertising partner.
GEORGIA HARDSTARK and KAREN KILGARIFF are taking their "MY FAVORITE MURDER" podcast to MIDROLL, with plans to develop spin-off shows and, ultimately, a podcast network. The show was previously distributed by FERAL AUDIO, which collaborated on the transition to MIDROLL.
GLYNN WASHINGTON of WNYC's "SNAP JUDGMENT" is branching out with a 10-episode true-crime series for STITCHER, "HEAVEN'S GATE," looking at the cult that staged the largest mass suicide in AMERICA. The show will be produced by the team responsible for "STRANGLERS" as well as PINEAPPLE STREET MEDIA, producers of "MISSING RICHARD SIMMONS."
LAUREN LAPKUS ("WITH SPECIAL GUEST LAUREN LAPKUS") and JON GABRUS ("HIGH AND MIGHTY") are launching a new podcast, "RAISED BY TELEVISION," looking at 80s and 90s TV shows, while CRISTEN CONGER and CAROLINE ERVIN, formerly of "STUFF MOM NEVER TOLD YOU," are starting "UNLADYLIKE," and JO FIRESTONE and MANOLO MORENO's "DR. GAMESHOW," a game show parody with ideas sent in by listeners, is now at EARWOLF.
