The CBS RADIO/ST. LOUIS cluster helped raise $83,000 for the AMERICAN RED CROSS and filled six 53-foot trailers with more than 100,000 pounds of items to be donated to victims of HURRICANE HARVEY. The goods will be transported to the HOUSTON area by the TEAMSTERS OF JOINT COUNCIL 13.
On FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 8th, the cluster hosted a “STL for HOUSTON Donation Drive” at a local supermarket. All three local stations -- Talk KMOX-A, AC KEZK and Hot AC KYKY (Y98) -- broadcast live from 6a-7p on location and encouraged St. Louisians to drop off non-perishable goods, cleaning supplies and/or donations to the AMERICAN RED CROSS. The donation drive raised over $23,000.
In addition to the one-day relief drive, CBS RADIO/ST. LOUIS worked with that supermarket chain to institute and promote a Scan & Give campaign that lasted from AUGUST 31st through SEPTEMBER 8th. Shoppers donated over $60,000.
“Putting the reach and strength of KMOX, Y98 and KEZK together to raise $83,000 and 50 tons of supplies further proves the giving nature of ST. LOUIS and the power of radio,” CBS RADIO/ST. LOUIS SVP/Market Manager JOHN SHEEHAN said. “Radio is always there to help in times of need.”
