ENTERCOM Sports WEEI-F/BOSTON and NESN presented a check for $4,200,882 to THE JIMMY FUND last night before the BOSTON RED SOX game at FENWAY PARK, representing the amount raised by the radio station and cable sports network's 2017 WEEI/NESN JIMMY FUND RADIO-TELETHON on AUGUST 15th and 16th. The event has raised almost $50 million in 16 years for adult and pediatric cancer research and care at the DANA-FARBER CANCER INSTITUTE.
"It’s truly humbling to witness firsthand the generosity that comes from the
people of NEW ENGLAND year-after-year,” said WEEI PD JOE ZARBANO. “Once again, the WEEI-NESN JIMMY FUND RADIO-TELETHON rallied the community together around amazing stories of hope, courage and strength. We’re looking forward to this great NEW ENGLAND summer tradition continuing in 2018 as we surpass the $50 million mark in our collective fight against cancer."“The generosity from RED SOX Nation was overwhelming!” said NESN President/CEO SEAN MCGRAIL. “The patients, families, doctors, nurses and staff inspired us all with their stories and NESN is honored to support DANA FARBER as they continue their lifesaving work in the fight against cancer.”
“We are grateful for the support from RED SOX Nation, near and far, who helped us raise more than $4 million for the JIMMY FUND and DANA-FARBER during the 16th annual WEEI/NESN JIMMY FUND RADIO-TELETHON,” said JIMMY FUND Chairman and former RED SOX President/CEO LARRY LUCCHINO. “Together, we are working to help find cures for cancer to conquer this miserable disease, and progress is being made every day.”
