The BROADCASTERS FOUNDATION OF AMERICA's annual Celebrity Golf Tournament at the SLEEPY HOLLOW COUNTRY CLUB in BRIARCLIFF MANOR, NY last week raised $250,000 for its work to help broadcasters in need. Over 150 broadcasters and celebrities participated in this year's event. The Foundation has been busy distributing funds to broadcasters in need after the hurricanes, with $50,000 already disbursed to 50 broadcasters impacted by Hurricane Harvey and another $100,000 in emergency grants in the works for those affected by Hurricane Irma.
“The funds come at a time when more broadcasters than ever are in need of emergency assistance,” said Foundation Chairman DAN MASON. “Our colleagues braved dangerous winds and rain from these massive hurricanes to remain on the air, broadcasting vital, life-saving news and information to their communities. It is up to us to help these dedicated broadcasters now, in their time of need.”
“We are pacing to distribute more than $1 million in monthly and emergency grants over the next 12 months,” added President JIM THOMPSON. “The money from fundraisers like the Celebrity Golf Tournament allows us to provide financial assistance to qualifying broadcasters who need our help. We are grateful to everyone who supported the Celebrity Golf Tournament and our charitable mission.”
