Congratulations to the DELMARVA BROADCASTING/WILMINGTON, DE and its six-station cluster -- which includes Country WXCY, Top 40 WSTW, Hot AC WAFL, Classic Hits WNCL, News-Talk WXDE, and News-Talk WDEL-A -- on raising over $345,000 for NEMOURS/ALFRED I. DUPONT HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN with their 24 hour "HELP OUR KIDS" radiothon. The fundraising event took place WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6th and THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 7th. This year's radiothon had special meaning for one DELMARVA staffer, as WSTW morning host NANCY JOHNSON became intimately familiar with the hospital's services after her daughter, CHARLOTTE, became a patient after suffering a spinal stroke.
WSTW PD MIKE ROSSI commented, "We are so fortunate to have a world-class children’s health facility in WILMINGTON with NEMOURS – A.I. DUPONT HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN. Our annual radiothon is an expression by our company, our sponsors, and our audiences of great appreciation for what is accomplished by the hospital staff, the parents and families, and the kids themselves.”
So far the DELMARVA stations have raised more than $1.6 million via their annual radiothons. Special guests during this year's event included the PHILLIE PHANATIC, CAESAR THE FOX, and a performance by singer/songwriter KATRINA WOOLVERTON. Check out a recap video here and a video about JOHNSON's daughter CHARLOTTE here.
