Former NHL goaltender GLENN "CHICO" RESCH is returning to serve as an analyst for NEW JERSEY DEVILS hockey, this time around for radio broadcasts with play-by-play voice MATT LOUGHLIN on CBS RADIO Sports WFAN-A-F/NEW YORK and streaming on THE ONE JERSEY NETWORK via WFAN.COM.
RESCH, who previously served as analyst on DEVILS TV coverage on MSG NETWORKS for 18 years (15 with Hall of Fame hockey announcer MIKE "DOC" EMRICK), replaces SHERRY ROSS, the longtime DEVILS radio analyst who was let go after last season; the former ISLANDERS, COLORADO ROCKIES/DEVILS, and FLYERS goalie will also be serving as team ambassador for the DEVILS.
“We’re thrilled to have CHICO back in the organization as a member of our broadcast team and in an important role as team ambassador,” said DEVILS EVP/GM RAY SHERO. “He has an incredible personal connection with our fans that resonates beyond the rink. As we continue to grow our team and develop our dynamic young roster, it’s essential to have people like CHICO in our organization to further our culture and goal of long‐term success on and off the ice.”
“I have an incredible passion for the NEW JERSEY DEVILS and the game of hockey, and it’s exciting to be a part of this organization as it builds around such promising young players,” said RESCH. “I know firsthand how dedicated the DEVILS fanbase is and I’m looking forward to engaging with them through my work as a broadcaster and team ambassador.”
“As excitement continues to build around the future of our hockey team, we’re fortunate to have two broadcast professionals in MATT and CHICO that have a rich history of excellence in broadcasting coupled with a market leading platform like WFAN,” said DEVILS and HARRIS BLITZER SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT President HUGH WEBER. “Our ability to develop, produce, and share content on multiple platforms like the WFAN Digital Network, NewJerseyDevils.com, and our television partnership with MSG NETWORKS, provides DEVILS fans unparalleled access to high quality programming and contact with the team. We will continue to make investments in THE ONE JERSEY NETWORK to provide a digital platform for fans around the region to follow their favorite local teams.”
“We are thrilled to continue our longstanding relationship with the NEW JERSEY DEVILS to offer live play-by‐play, now both on‐air and online,” said CBS RADIO NEW YORK SVP/Market Manager MARC RAYFIELD. “There is an incredible fan base around this team, and major league hockey in the tristate area, and we are proud to be the radio home of this remarkable club.”
The DEVILS have been heard on WFAN for 13 seasons; THE ONE JERSEY NETWORK was created last year to air 23 regular season games not heard on WFAN.
