RAFE MAIR, the former politician who became one of VANCOUVER's leading talk radio hosts, died MONDAY morning (10/9) at 85.
MAIR, a lawyer, served in the BRITISH COLUMBIA Legislative Assembly representing KAMLOOPS as a member of the Social Credit Party, first elected in 1975, also serving in Premier BILL BENNETT's cabinet before moving into talk radio, hosting at JIM PATTISON News-Talk CJOR-A/VANCOUVER in 1981-84, CORUS News-Talk CKNW-A in 1984-2003, and JIM PATTISON Adult Standards CKBD-A (formerly CJOR, now CKPK-F) in 2003-05. MAIR later appeared on OMNI TV's "THE STANDARD" and hosted "THE SEARCH WITH RAFE MAIR" on cable's VISIONTV.
MAIR was named to the CANADIAN ASSOCIATION OF BROADCASTERS' Hall of Fame in 2005.
