JON SCOTT has a lifetime of memories as a Rock radio promotion man but his biggest radio "add" was over 40 years ago when his efforts as a Promotion man for ABC Records got "Breakdown" by TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS played on several Rock stations across the country.
SCOTT was backstage at TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS final performance ever on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 25th, 2017 at the HOLLYWOOD BOWL, and was totally surprised when PETTY dedicated the song "I Won't Back Down" to SCOTT's promotion efforts with a shout-out to the crowd. Check out this awesome moment here.
SCOTT shared his story of getting that initial radio airplay for TOM PETTY with ALL ACCESS Rock Editor KEN ANTHONY last weekend on CUMULUS Rocker KLOS/LOS ANGELES during ANTHONY's SATURDAY morning radio show. Check out Part One of their interview here.
SCOTT also shared stories with ANTHONY about PETTY's famous Christmas greetings to Rock programmers and getting the song "Free Fallin'" played on the radio in Part Two of their interview here.
SCOTT's promotion efforts for TOM PETTY's first single turned into a life-long friendship that SCOTT is going to miss. "I've always loved TOM's music and am really going to miss his friendship. I'm struggling with his passing but sharing these fond memories are helping me get through this tough time."
