GOOGLE is buying some of the assets of podcast app 60dB and will shut the app down while hiring the app's staff, reports BUSINESS INSIDER.
The app, which allows users to personalize feeds of short-form audio, was launched last year by TINY GARAGE LABS. The app, which has been available for iOS, Android, AMAZON Alexa, and on the web, will shut down on NOVEMBER 10th.
The absence of a native podcast app for Android has been a thorn in the side of the podcasting industry; APPLE's native podcast app for iOS is the dominant client for podcast listening despite Android's far larger share of the smartphone business.
