KINY/Juneau, AK Lets Rotary Club Take Over Studio For Donations

JUNEAU RADIO CENTER Full-Service AC KINY A-F/JUNEAU, AK was taken over by community leaders and THE JUNEAU ROTARY CLUB all day SATURDAY OCTOBER 21st. From 8a-6p, the teams of Rotarians took requests for donations, read the news, weather and took pledges with a volunteer manned phone bank. Some of the requests were hilarious, one for a $1,000 donation was GENE WILDER singing "Pure Imagination" from WILLIE WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY.

"These are the kind of big time community promotions and outreach that make these radio stations the center piece of listening in this area," PD CHUCK GEIGER said. "All of the funds raised will go to THE ROTARY FOUNDATION to fight polio. BILL and MELINDA GATES and THE GATES FOUNDATION promised to double SATURDAY's total of $36,000.
