NSHOF and NSAI Present Annual Awards

One day after the COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME (CMHOF) recognized its Class Of 2017 (NET NEWS 10/23), the NASHVILLE SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME (NSHOF) chimed in to mark more excellence, inducting five new members: WALT ALDRIDGE, DEWAYNE BLACKWELL, the late VERN GOSDIN, plus JIM MCBRIDE and TIM NICHOLS (NET NEWS 8/9). NASHVILLE's MUSIC CITY CENTER was host to the organization's "47TH ANNIVERSARY HALL OF FAME GALA," which was attended by more than 1,000 music industry professionals.
In addition, the NASHVILLE SONGWRITERS ASSOCIATION INTERNATIONAL (NSAI) presented its annual awards, with "Blue Ain't Your Color" honored as 2017 Song Of The Year. ASHLEY GORLEY recieved his second consecutive, and third career, Songwriter Of The Year prize for penning "Black," "Dirt On My Boots," "Dirty Laundry," and "Guy With A Girl," among others. The NSAI Songwriter-Artist Of The Year went to CAPITOL NASHVILLE's LUKE BRYAN. The NSAI also presented its "10 SONGS I WISH I'D WRITTEN" awards, voted on by NSAI membership. Making the list for 2017 were: "80s Mercedes," "Better Man," "Body Like A Back Road," "Different For Girls," "Dirt On My Boots," "Drinkin' Problem," "H.O.L.Y.," "Kill A Word," "Peter Pan," and "Vice."
