AMERICAN UNIVERSITY News-Talk WAMU/WASHINGTON, D.C.'s NPR-distributed daily show "1A" is adding a new one-hour "curated" version. The new edition, piloted since JUNE on WAMU, is intended for affiliates desiring to air the JOSHUA JOHNSON-hosted show outside its live two-hour 10a-noon slot and will include content from both of the live hours plus listener voicemails and social media reactions from throughout the day.
WAMU GM JJ YORE said, “From the beginning, WAMU and NPR envisioned 1A as a truly national dialogue -- tapping into the most important and resonant conversations happening across the UNITED STATES. We’ve been thrilled to see station carriage of the show grow over 20 percent since launch, and see this new offering as a natural next step to meet the growing interest in the show.”
“1A has quickly become an important forum for national conversations with Joshua Johnson standing out as a fresh new voice that listeners have really responded to,” added NPR VP of Programming and Audience Development ANYA GRUNDMANN.
