Despite bad publicity about the Russian presence on the platform during the Presidential election, FACEBOOK reported that total advertising revenue rose 49% to $10.14 billion in Q3 2017, about 88% of which came from mobile ads. That beat analyst expectations $9.71 billion in ad revenue. Net income excluding some costs grew to $4.71 billion.
"Our community continues to grow and our business is doing well," FACEBOOK Founder/CEO MARK ZUCKERBERG said. "But none of that matters if our services are used in ways that don't bring people closer together. We're serious about preventing abuse on our platforms. We're investing so much in security that it will impact our profitability. Protecting our community is more important than maximizing our profits."
