MANCOW MULLER is not pleased that his employer, CUMULUS MEDIA, has hired one of his former bosses, MARV NYREN, as its new Market Manager for CHICAGO, so he's suing NYREN for emotional distress, reports the CHICAGO TRIBUNE.
MULLER, who hosts mornings at Classic Rock WLUP/CHICAGO, alleges in the suit filed in COOK COUNTY Circuit Court that NYREN, his boss when both worked at then-EMMIS Alternative WKQX, fired him in JULY 2006 in retaliation for MULLER objecting to having to meet with him outside the station and then, the suit claims, campaigned for retribution by airing denigrating on-air bits about him, throwing a staff party to celebrate MANCOW's departure, and had salespeople delivering "raw, spoiled rotten and bloody meat" to clients to depict MANCOW as a "dead cow." The suit adds charges that NYREN did not disclose his prior relationship with MANCOW while interviewing for the new job.
NYREN did not comment on the suit to the TRIBUNE but told the paper, “I’m thrilled to be working with CUMULUS and MANCOW. He’s seeing some really great ratings, and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
