The ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC (ACM) honored Country legend LITTLE JIMMY DICKENS with the PIONEER AWARD during a GRAND OLE OPRY VETERAN'S DAY tribute show at the RYMAN AUDITORIUM in NASHVILLE this past weekend (11/11). DICKENS has been part of country music since 1948 and is now the most senior member of the OPRY, having joined 57 years ago.
ACM representative TIFFANY DAVIS presented the award to DICKENS and he said, "Isn’t that beautiful? I’m not quite sure I deserve this honor because for the past 58 years I had the pleasure of working with, and learning from the deceased pioneers of country music. Ladies and gentleman, I want to thank the GRAND OLE OPRY, by all means, for the years I’ve spent with them because had it not been for the GRAND OLE OPRY, there would never have been a LITTLE JIMMY DICKENS. I’m grateful. Thank you.”
