The allegations of inappropriate conduct are spreading at NEW YORK PUBLIC MEDIA News-Talk WNYC-A-F/NEW YORK, which has placed longtime hosts LEONARD LOPATE and JONATHAN SCHWARTZ on leave while the station investigates accusations against them.
WNYC, already rocked by accusations of harassement by former "THE TAKEAWAY" host JOHN HOCKENBERRY, did not disclose the nature of the accusations. Pres./CEO LAURA WALKER issued a statement saying that WNYC "takes these kinds of allegations very seriously and is reviewing these matters promptly."
MARY HARRIS is filling in for LOPATE on his midday show, which also airs at midnight on the FM side. The station did not disclose what will be done in place of SCHWARTZ' weekend shows or his Adult Standards "THE JONATHAN CHANNEL" online stream.
