The FCC has reached a Consent Decree with FARMWORKER EDUCATIONAL RADIO NETWORK, INC. fining the company $20,000 to settle public file and unauthorized silent periods at Regional Mexican KRIT (RADIO CAMPESINA)/PARKER, AZ. The station's license has also been renewed, but for a short term of two years.
In its 2013 renewal filing, the station admitted that it had been off the air for four periods in 2008-13 but the Commission noted that while Silent STAs had been obtained for some of those periods (late, in two cases), KRIT was off the air without authorization three times in 2009-11 and again, after the license period, in 2015-16. The station also did not disclose that its public file was missing certain required issues/programs lists and others were not in the proper format.
