About this time each year, radio stations across the country conduct toy drives to help gather toys for area children. RANDY HENDRIX of MOMENTUM AC KVMI(MY 97.5)/VISALIA, CA came up with a unique approach for his station's effort this year.
HENDRIX told ALL ACCESS, "The whole 'sleeping on a scissor lift thing' is fine for some, but we venture to guess this has never been done before. For 54 straight hours our morning host, MIKE PESTO, will be living on a clock tower and sleeping in a plastic toy house (his 5-year-old daughter’s to be precise) in a toy drive for BIG BROTHERS AND BIG SISTERS of CENTRAL CALIFORNIA."
Makes sense. If you're gonna do a toy drive, why not sleep in a toy house? The effort runs just over two days, from FRIDAY, DECEMBER 8th at 6a until SUNDAY, DECEMBER 10th at noon.
Cozy, but is it comfy? “There are some kids in TULARE COUNTY who, if not for this toy drive, may not get any presents this year. Our goal, which was handed to us by the organization's Executive Director, is to collect 450 toys. I hope and pray we can get there,” added HENDRIX.
