CBC/RADIO-CANADA says it has doubled its digital reach two and a half years ahead of schedule. The networks' combined digital sites and their content reached the 18 million monthly Canadian audience mark on average each month between APRIL and OCTOBER, almost half of the nation's population and doubling the audience at launch, a goal set by the networks' Strategy 2020 plan released in 2014. In addition, the CBC noted that three-quarters of the audience is reaching the sites through mobile devices.
"This shows that programs and services on our digital platforms are resonating with Canadians," said Pres./CEO HUBERT T. LACROIX. "I'm so proud of everyone at CBC/RADIO-CANADA who have worked so hard to make our digital transformation a success."
"This accomplishment helps us play a central role in supporting Canadian culture," added LACROIX. "We will keep building on this success. Digital is where Canadians are, and clearly where they want their public broadcaster to be."
