GROUPON founder ANDREW MASON has launched a new audio editor that transcribes audio into text and allows editing of sound by editing the text version. DESCRIPT is launching with a $5 million seed investment from venture capital firm ANDREESEN HOROWITZ.
The application offers "transcripts in under five minutes or we’ll buy you a pizza," with a rate of 7 cents per minute of audio and a claim of up to 95% accuracy with "half as many errors as other transcription services," plus a "White Glove" service at 99 cents a minute that will transcribe audio and correct errors in 24 hours or less. The waveform editor also attaches words in text to the waveforms, allowing editing by clicking on a word tab and sliding it to eliminate dead air.
