WABC/New York's Curtis Sliwa To Miss Time Due To Health Issue

CUMULUS News-Talk WABC-A/NEW YORK midday "CURTIS & EBONI" co-host CURTIS SLIWA used THE NEW YORK RADIO MESSAGE BOARD to share news that he will be away from the mic to take care of a health issue.

He wrote, "I will be undergoing an operation to try and deal with Full Blown Chron's disease that has ravaged me over the past 2 years. It has taken it's toll. I have lost my muscle mass and in the process lost 60 lbs. The pain throughout has been horrific. At times it caused me to pass out and gather into a fetal position on the floor. Often times the only way that I could keep broadcasting was to take 'Hillbilly Heroin' a.k.a Oxycodone to suppress the overwhelming pain. The cause of the ulcerated intestines that will be removed during the procedure were the 5 gun shot wounds that I was hit with in my lower extremities in the SUMMER of 1992. That occurred in the back of a cab while I was on my way to do the morning show at WABC. It was a result of a hit ordered on me by by JOHN GOTTI for what I was saying on the radio about the GAMBINO Crime Family. Best case scenario is that it will take me a week of recovery at COLUMBIA-PRESBYTERIAN HOSPITAL. Worse case scenario a month or more. In the interim WABC management will use a series of replacements for both of the shows that I do. 12noon-3p The CURTIS SLIWA Show and 5-6p The Drive Home at Five."
