LOTUS Country KUUB (CUB COUNTRY 94-5FM)/RENO morning co-host TIM LYNAH, of "TIM, MALAYNA & TIM," checks in with ALL ACCESS to tell us about what he calls "the coolest thing I've ever experienced in broadcasting!" TIM picks up the story:
"This morning at 7:45a MALAYNA reported on the story of Miss EVELYN MOUNT. For 25-plus years EVELYN MOUNT has been collecting food for needy families here in RENO and feeding them THANKSGIVING and CHRISTMAS dinners. On WEDNESDAY night someone broke into her food storage facility and stole 300 frozen turkeys and chickens for the dinners, making her holiday tradition for the needy insurmountable.
"Being affected by hearing this, the TIM, MALAYNA & TIM show started a very impromptu turkey collection for the final two hours of the show. The response from our listeners: Between 8-10a (in two hours), we collected over 600 frozen turkeys and collected (at mid-count) over $10,000 in cash donations from listeners. Not kidding!
"From my view of the parking lot from the studio, there was literally a line of cars that had to wait 15 minutes just to get into our parking lot to drop off their donations! Meanwhile, the other TIM and show intern TIFFANY drove around the city in the CUB COUNTRY van and collected donations from listeners who couldn't leave their office, but wanted to donate.
"Three truckloads of turkeys later, we had a chance to talk with EVELYN MOUNT. She said she now has enough to get her through her THANKSGIVING and CHRISTMAS dinners for her families. An unbelievable community!"
At final count, 630 frozen turkeys and over $15,000 in cash donations were collected.
