The unsolved 2012 murder of LONGPORT MEDIA Talk WOND-A/ATLANTIC CITY, NJ weekend show co-host APRIL KAUFFMAN has taken a new turn with the arrest of her husband not only for her murder but for planning with the PAGANS motorcycle gang to build an opioid drug ring, which prosecutors say led to the murder when KAUFFMAN discovered her husband's plans and threatened to divorce him.
THE PRESS OF ATLANTIC CITY reports that at a TUESDAY press conference, ATLANTIC COUNTY Prosecutor DAMON G TYNER announced that Dr. JAMES M. KAUFFMAN and seven members of the PAGANS have been charged with conspiracy and racketeering, and KAUFFMAN was alleged to have hired, through alleged conspirator FERDINAND AUGELLO, a hit man, the late FRANCIS MULLHOLLAND, to kill APRIL KAUFFMAN for $20,000.
Dr. KAUFFMAN has been in jail since being arrested last JUNE on weapons charges, to which he pleaded not guilty in SEPTEMBER and awaits trial. He and AUGELLO face murder and racketeering charges; six others have been charged with racketeering.
APRIL KAUFFMAN, co-host of the "KING ARTHUR SHOW" with ARTHUR GROPPER on SUNDAYS on WOND, was found dead at her home in LINWOOD, NJ in MAY 2012. She had been shot several times.
