‘Blues Queen’ Denise LaSalle Has Died

ALL ACCESS extends condolences to the family, friends, and former colleagues of Blues Singer/Songwriter DENISE LASALLE. The 78-year old died MONDAY night (1/8) in a JACKSON, TN hospital surrounded by family, reports the CHICAGO SUN-TIMES.
LASALLE moved from MISSISSIPPI to CHICAGO as a teenager, eventually signed with CHESS RECORDS, and called the WINDY CITY home for many years. She released more than 30 albums during her 50-year career, the most recent was “24 Hour Woman” in 2010. Her Top-10 R&B singles, included “Trapped by a Thing Called Love”, “Now Run and Tell That”, and “Man Sized Job.”
She founded THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR THE PRESERVATION OF THE BLUES in 1986; also inducted into the RHYTHM AND BLUES MUSIC HALL OF FAME in 2015.
